Dry ice blasting offers a more productive, and user friendly "point and shoot" method to adhesive removal.  Upon impact, the dry ice sublimates creating a "gas flushing" action to dislodge and remove the contaminants.

During the past decade, the use of dry ice blast cleaning has become the hi-tech standard for the cleaning of commercial printing equipment. Whether it is a web press being cleaned on the production floor, a glue pot being blasted off line or adhesive removal, users have discovered that the PHX Series of Dry Ice Cleaning Systems are the tools of choice.

Cleaning Advantage

A superior clean. The gas flushing action of this system reaches into nooks and crannies which are not accessible to hand cleaning.

Shear speed of cleaning. One person with a dry ice blaster can do more in 1 hour, than he could in 8 hours of manual cleaning.

No added waste. Dry ice blasting is a dry, nonabrasive process. It will not harm bearings, motors, chrome plated rollers etc.

Cleaning can be completed on-line with minimal disassembly.

Reduced downtime means greater productivity.

Greatly reduced chemical usage (reduced VOC's).

Versatility. The quick change blast gun / nozzle system allows the operator to easily change the size of the cleaning swath. He can use a tube nozzle (the diameter of a pencil) for the tight, hard to reach areas, or change to a fan nozzle for a wide pattern to clean large open areas.

ADVANTAGES OF USING DRY ICE BLASTING IN THE PRINTING & PACKAGING INDUSTRIES

Printing/Packaging - Dry Ice Blast Cleaning

Dry ice blasting offers a more productive, and user friendly "point and shoot" method to adhesive removal. The PHX-150 system uses compressed air to send high speed particles of dry ice thru a special blast gun. Upon impact, the dry ice sublimates creating a "gas flushing" action to dislodge and remove the contaminants.

Most people involved in the graphic arts industry are painfully aware of the old, traditional cleaning method. Put on rubber gloves and spend hours trying to manually clean hard to reach areas with scrapers, rags and lots of solvents.

Neglecting cleaning as part of preventative maintenance may lead to excessive downtime, expensive repairs, and poor quality on the finished product. Thorough cleanings typically are not done because many people believe there is no easy way.  The amount of time required to clean any piece of equipment will vary because of several factors.

Thickness and type of contaminant being removed (hard dry ink or semi wet lubricants)

Smoothness of surfaces being blasted (porous surfaces tend to clean a little slower)

Operator experience

Quality and quantity of compressed air. (100 psi / 300 cfm of clean, dry air is ideal)
